Product clarity
Is LipoDissolve the Same as KYBELLA?
No.
LipoDissolve, liquid lipo and liquid liposuction are broad terms used around injection lipolysis or fat-dissolving treatments. LipoDissolve is not one universally standardized branded drug, so the actual formulation being administered matters.
KYBELLA is a specific prescription deoxycholic-acid product—not another name for LipoDissolve.
It is indicated for improvement in the appearance of moderate-to-severe fullness associated with submental fat in adults. That approval does not transfer to compounded or other fat-dissolving products, and KYBELLA is not approved for body fat outside the submental region. Your consultation should identify the exact product or formulation proposed and why.

Double Chin: Fat, Loose Skin—or Both?

Loose skin
If lax skin is driving the change, removing fat may not create the expected jawline definition and can sometimes make laxity more noticeable. A skin-focused or surgical approach may fit better.

Anatomy or a combination
Chin and jaw structure, deeper neck anatomy, fat and skin can all influence the profile. Grace separates these factors before recommending treatment—or saying injections are not the right tool.
Fat-dissolving injections address appropriate fat. They do not tighten loose skin or change chin or jaw structure. These are consultation topics, not a self-diagnosis tool. Loose facial or jawline skin may need a skin-focused pathway; localized body fat belongs in the body-contouring assessment.

What Fat-Dissolving Treatment and Recovery Are Actually Like
This is an injectable treatment with real recovery. There is no surgical incision, but visible swelling, soreness or bruising may affect work and social plans.

Your provider reviews your health history, examines the area and confirms whether an injectable approach is appropriate before anything is scheduled.

Treatment
Small injections are placed into the planned treatment area according to your provider's treatment plan. The exact product or formulation should be named; the approach is not a fixed package sold in advance.

Recovery
Swelling can temporarily make the area look fuller before it looks better. Tenderness, firmness, bruising, numbness or altered sensation can also occur and may affect social plans even though there is no surgical incision.

Reassessment
Change develops gradually and more than one session may be recommended. You are reassessed between visits instead of committing to a standing schedule.

Fat-Dissolving Injection Safety Information
Approved use
KYBELLA (deoxycholic acid) injection is FDA approved for improvement in the appearance of moderate-to-severe convexity or fullness associated with submental fat—fat beneath the chin—in adults. It is not approved for use anywhere else on the body.
Contraindication
It should not be injected into or near an area of infection.
Common side effects
Swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of firmness or hardness at the injection sites are among the most commonly reported effects. Swelling under the chin can be pronounced.
Serious risks
Serious reactions have been reported, including nerve injury in the jaw that can cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness, trouble swallowing, and injection-site ulceration, tissue damage or hair loss. Labeling also describes the risk of injection-site nodules (3 cm or smaller) or masses (larger than 3 cm), which may not resolve on their own and may require medical treatment.
In September 2026, FDA approved additional labeling warning about adverse reactions associated with use outside the submental region and recommends against that unapproved use, noting that neuromuscular and other serious adverse events may occur.
Why the exact product matters
“LipoDissolve” does not identify one standardized medication. Treatment should follow an in-person evaluation under the practice's medical oversight, and the exact product or formulation, indication and patient-specific plan should be explained. Tell your provider about your medical history, prior treatment in the area, difficulty swallowing, bleeding problems, and any new or persistent nodules or masses after treatment.
